Also known as the Queen Mother, Flicka came to us from another Killpen in Texas. This amazing courageous horse came to us with her son extremely emaciated and horribly sick. We were not sure we would be able to save this rescue but we were going to do everything it took to try!
Through many sleepless nights and long days, the care and medicine did its job. Her ribs slowly disappeared and her bones faded as she began to steadily gain weight. Although she had the dullness in her coat, the flat listless expression in her eye, and the gait of the defeated…This girl never lost the kindness, the gentleness, or the gratitude. Flicka has amazed us by her kindness and ability to forgive.
We are honored to be able to provide Flicka the life she deserves. After months in our quarantine barn she was finally able to be turned out in the pasture. This was an effort to continue the much needed healing in a place not visible to the eye or measurable with a weight tape. It was the courageous soul and will to survive that led to her destiny. From a discarded never saddled broodmare to a pampered life with her own human who adores and loves her.
Happy Ending Here ... she has her forever home. Today, Flicka, has reclaimed her life and is thriving.
